“Allowing someone into your reality is a brave step. My role is to provide a trusting connection and comfortable space for clients to rest their walls, gain insight, and find peace.” - Katherine Moncrief.
Katherine Moncrief is a Licensure Candidate in the field of Mental Health Counseling whose passion for helping others is reflected in her work. Her refreshing blend of empathy, humor, and wisdom gives her a unique, down-to-earth approach that feels genuine. She draws from an eclectic toolbox of therapeutic theories and techniques to best serve each client in all stages of life for a wide array of conditions. Her goal is to equip her clients with knowledge, insight, and tools to discover their strengths, find peace, and thrive in all areas of their lives.
Working With Children
As a mother, Katherine truly understands the unconditional love parents have for their children and the frustration, hopelessness, and guilt that can come with not knowing how to support a child through emotional and behavioral fluctuations. Giving your child a safe, connection-driven environment outside of the home to process their feelings and experiences is a beautiful gift. Katherine utilizes art and play therapy as a child-friendly framework to connect with children and help them learn new skills to manage emotions and behaviors. Her approach involves working closely with parents to develop skills and techniques for the home that will allow the parent and child to reconnect and continue to build a strong, loving bond for years to come.
Working with Adolescents
Adolescents and young adults face critical social and career decisions that will shape their futures. From their first heartbreak, power struggles to be more independent, and the effects of bullying or drug use, it’s no wonder, so many parents note this as the time they start to notice their hair greying! Parents attempting to reconnect or guide their teenagers toward good decisions often find themselves in a tug-of-war with their growing children. Now more than ever, teenagers need a safe place to confide in and discover whom they want to be in the world. Offering your teenager the opportunity to talk with a therapist confidentially will give them a safe space to process the pressure, overwhelm, and shift in emotional experiences that so many teens face.
Katherine understands that many teenagers feel helpless and voiceless. Her approach gives them a comfortable environment to be heard with respect to their culture, belief systems, and personality. She prioritizes building trust and empowering them to investigate how their lived experiences affect their self-perception, ultimately guiding them to unlock who they want to be and how they want to show up in the world.
